Standard Venmo transfers to a bank account are free and take one to three business days. Instant transfers cost a percentage of the amount with both a minimum and a maximum fee. Sending with a credit card carries a separate percentage, and receiving a payment marked as a purchase carries a seller fee.

The cap is the interesting part

Because the instant transfer fee is capped, the effective percentage falls once you pass the amount where the cap applies. For anyone moving money regularly, that changes the optimal behaviour: several small instant transfers cost proportionally more than one large one.

If you are using Venmo for work rather than for splitting dinner, batching transfers is worth more than it sounds.
